All right, fuck it. It's on. Attention Chicagoans who are beyond shame: AD&D version 3.5, face to fucking face at the Pierce Crib, date TBD. Standard rules, my own (World of Talus) campaign setting. Live and uncut. 1st level to start. 5 minimum players, 8 maximum. Ongoing, not episodic. Me running, you playing. Alls you need is the PH (if you ain't got it, the Lord and my knack for illegal acquisition can provide) and some flair. Once a week at most, once a month at least. Repondez sil-vous plait, down in the comments, and we'll do this thing.

Bring it.

(SPECIAL NOTE to [info]omnipolis players: I know, I know. Monday.)

Oh, man, that sounds like fun. Playing D&D with anarcho-communists! It just makes me sad that I'm stuck with libertarians Natural Law... ists. But the Arch is actually just a big geek magnet, so there is never a shortage of players. Yay.

You could always move to Chicago. You'd have plenty of high-quality ultra-leftists to game with, and better pizza.

Better pizza.... for me to poop on!

*high five*

I've been trying to get my friends to start up a pen and paper campaign for a few months. Good luck to you sir.

Course, if you had NWN, we could start an online campaign.

Or he could use WebRPG and host/play for free. Or pay a bit for the prettiness of kLoOge.Werks. The real problem of NWN and these two is that everyone must be online at the same time. But that is simple compared to getting a group of people to the same physical location on a regular basis. Unless you buy pizza and beer. Then it is much easier.

Unrelated to anything: You know, I googled around a bit and couldn't find a group of PETA members who play D&D. Losers. But I'd love to see a group of PETA members play. "You what?!" "I set the Owlbear free!" "Are you serious?" "Of course!"

Yeah, I dig, but I really wanna give face-to-face playin' a decent shot. I haven't done it since I moved to Chic and I kinda miss it. If I can't scrounge together enough people (I only have one so far), so be it, but I want to at least say I tried. If it falls apart, we'll see about WebRPG or NWN or somethin'.

Well, I do hope you get some face to face gaming in. God knows my Saturday game helps keep me sane, what with the killing of monsters and making nasty comments about Bush.

If you don't mind strangers, there is a yahoogroup called DnDcontact that has a good sized database of players/DMs by area. If you subscribe, I'd recommend only subscribing to the Daily Digest or "No Emails" as there are quite a few vocal idiots on the list. They like to get into shoutfests about why players should/shouldn't be allowed to play evil characters, why America is/isn't the greatest nation in the universe and on and on.

Yeah, but aaaaaargh. I have had so many bad experiences gaming with strangers, that's a lot of what put me off it for so long. Meanwhile, as this entry indicates, my friends are either (a) not nerdy enough and won't play; (b) too nerdy and are busy playing other games; or (c) nerdy, but ashamed and won't post. WOE IS ME AND MY NERD PARTY. And I spent all these weeks stealing buying sourcebooks!

Well, maybe your Chicago friends just suck. I'd consider killing them all if I were you. Except Cheryl, because I know she is not imaginary.

Maybe Delahoyde would play if you showed him the drawings of constructs robots in the MM. Maybe Claire would join if you picked up a bunch of wierd foods.

I'm interested. More towards the once-a-month end than the once-a-week end, but only because I never leave the Shedd. Don't have a 3.5 PH, but is it really all that different from 3.0?
[info]ludickid wrote:

Nah, it's pretty much the same thing. In fact, I don't like some of the changes they made in 3.5, so I'll be using 3.0 character sheets at the very least. No need for alarm.

Maybe we could play at the Shedd. You let us in after hours, we game in the cool glow of the central tank. If we get hungry, we can eat a remora.

Anywho, yay for you being interested! Shoot me your vitals at leonard at ludic kid dot com and I'll give you campaign details, location of my crib, and we'll work out the when. Hopefully. If I get a few more people (I'm up to a massive two.)

Just maybe your e-mail address and when you might be available to do this thang, is all.

Hmmm
I may be interested, also more towards once a month than once a week, after we move at the end of July, depending on whether or not my partner heads back to school in August, or if he decides to work here and finish the degree part time remotely, and also depending on whether or not there are any cute boys playing, but not too cute.

How's that for non-committal?

Oh, can I be a paladin? Or a fairy princess? Or both? Or...

Re: Hmmm
That's an admirable degree of noncommitallity. Noncommitalness. Noncommititude.

You can play whatever makes your rowboat sail, man.

What style of campaign will it be?

Re: Hmmm
1st level to start, 3.0/3.5 rules, in my own campaign setting but generally as per standard rules. It will be an ongoing campaign, with emphasis on character development, worldbuilding and long-term stuff rather than simple hack-n-slash and cash-grabs. Lots o' intrigue, not so much monster-killing (though some of that). All regular player classes and races, plus a few extra available races (orc, goblin, hobgoblin) and classes (assassin, witch hunter, psion, bandit). It will start with the characters being young patriot types in a far northern Viking-type country that is very warlike and just making the transition from barbarism to having an actual civilization.
