For Christmas I am hoping to go see my fam, but not sure yet.

I kind of have a love/hate relationship with all these holidays. When I spend them just with my husband I feel both relieved and sad/lonely. When I spend them with my fam I both enjoy it and get really depressed by it. Of course, I'm kind of a depressive weirdo who constantly experiences nostalgia for things I never had/didn't even like, so...perhaps you should ignore my answers. Except for the liquor one. Tequila is gross.

If by "gross" you mean "awesome".

Canadian Thanksgiving was last month. It's a relatively trivial holiday to us, just an excuse to eat turkey - not the Major Family Holiday that it is to most Americans.

I believe that's because Canadians are anti-family.

Alas, Tequila and I parted ways some 28 years ago, but the body -- the body never forgets!

I hate Thanksgiving. I like Christmas okay, and New Years basically means nothing to me, but Thanksgiving I can't stand. I would so give it a miss every year if that were an option.

It's like, an entire day off from work spent in celebration of gluttony. Regardless of it's actual historical "significance," that's really all it is. Hey! I'm obese! Let's put up some streamers!

Boy, you say "an entire day off from work spent in celebration of gluttony" like it's a bad thing.

Christmas sucks because, let's face it, buying presents for people is a huge pain in the ass. New Years can eat it, because I like to get drunk alone, not in a huge crowd of screaming assholes. Thanksgiving has it right, though: meat, liquor and pies.

Whilst these Aussies I find myself among don't do Thanksgiving (which is a good thing), we have a Yank friend who is really into it and every year throws a T-Day party for his friends ... turkey, stuffing, &c &c.

By lucky coincidence, though, we are instead taking a trip to Perth at that time - my first time there! I look forward to dipping my toes in the Indian Ocean for the first time, and hopefully not being eaten by a shark or swept out to sea by a tsunami or something.

This holiday season I am really bummed that I am not seeing anyone. We can't really afford any more tickets to the east coast after wedding/honeymoon/8 trips to the east coast in 2008. I am a big Xmas person-- LOVE it-- so I'm sad about this. But Norman and I will do something special, like roast a chicken or something.

Oh, but for Thanksgiving we're using those extra vacay days so our honeymoon can be nice and long... on Thurs the 27th we're flying from Rio De Janeiro to Buenos Aires!

If I wasn't already gonna be in Phoenix, I'd come up to Chicago for Christmas.

I love Thanksgiving. You know why I love Thanksgiving? Cause I don't get enough time off to justify going home for it, that's why.

That being said, I am very excited to go home for Christmas/New Year's this year for the first time since...okay, ever: my best friend will probably have a brand new baby when I get there. So cool!

Thanksgiving, through no fault of its own, is my least favorite holiday. First of all, I have a habit of being sick on Thanksgiving, but that's often a blessing. Thanksgiving is almost always spent at the home of a cousin who married into a large Irish Catholic family. Last year, I believe they had something like 50 kids under the age of 12 there. Most of the time my dad and I end up in a corner talking amongst ourselves, which we could easily do without FIFTY FUCKING KIDS RUNNING AROUND.

Christmas is always pleasant enough, and while New Year's is generally considered "amateur night" (a night for people who don't know how to drink heavily to drink heavily), I don't have any familial obligations to be anywhere except on my couch with a handful of DVD's and a six-pack of Xingu. Maybe this year I'll do the Omen movies...

I am going to meet the gf's ENTIRE FAMILY on a TINY ISLAND this Christmas. It is vaguely worrisome.
