Whorin'

Not that I don't enjoy all of them, but today's AV Club Inventory was especially fun to read (and write).

The Day the Clown Cried is like the White Whale of bad taste.

I'm not one of the select few who has seen it, but I have read the screenplay, and it's pretty horrible.

Oh, I've read it too. I was pretty horrified.

Here's the thing though. After The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and V for Vendetta, do we really want to see them skim the flashier parts out of The Watchmen and ignore all the nuance that made it interesting?

That being said, I will absolutely go see it. But I won't be happy about it.

Oh, I think it's going to be terrible. My total fascination with the Watchmen movie should in no way imply that I think it's going to be good.

I've been crossing my fingers that HBO would option it for a 12-part mini-series, but I guess it was not to be. Maybe 30 years hence, like ABC did with The Shining, except that the movie was good and the TV miniseries was filet of crap served with tequila-vomit compote.

I'm convinced that Duke Nukem Forever is not, and never has been, in development. It's the gaming industry's longest-running prank, there never was a real DNF (or if there was, it was scrapped in 1998 and kept alive as a joke).

It's the Doom's IV of video games.

Very enjoyable. And very nerd heavy, too. Is it kosher to inquire which ones you did?

I did Twilight of the Superheroes, Miracleman, Ronnie Rocket, Buckaroo Banzai Against The World Crime League, and Jesus, who is called the Christ.

Good bits. Did Moore actually note in his TotS proposal that this would have great action figure opportunities? Or am I just mixing up things I've read?

Confederacy of Dunces is one of my all time favorites. They better not greenlight that one 'til they get it RIGHT. The Coen Brothers might be the only ones with the vision to pull it off properly. (And John Goodman might have made a great Reilly, about 10-15 years ago).

15 years ago, he was still a good 12 years past how old Ignatius Reilly is supposed to be.

Yes, but he still could have pulled it off!
