*: Actually, the common search is for "kelly blue book", which means that so many people are looking for it that a misspelling is the second-most-popular search under "K".

Wow, Limewire is still a thing?

I had a similar shock as the Kelly BB thing when I looked up the lyrics to Smells Like Teen Spirit http://adam-0oo.livejournal.com/102680.html

Oh, that was fascinating! I can safely assure you that I have never in my life googled Disney or Lady Gaga -- but I have to admit that about half the imdb hits are me:)

isn't it easier to just put IMDB into the url bar? That's what amazes me - one of just about every letter is a short word which, with .com added to it, would just take you to that site.

It's almost as if those results are corporate plants. Could be that, or it could be that people really do find it easier to search a major brand's or store's site than just, you know, typing it in. I'm personally baffled by having to do that, but hey.

You've obviously never met my mom. That's how she does enter the actual URL: she'll type "www.whatever.com" into the google search bar. No matter how many times you try to explain it to her.

Years ago, when a Wachovia rep was showing me a feature of the bank's website, he started by showing me how to get to the homepage: "First, go to google. Type in 'Wachovia' and click on the first link..."

I think it's most interesting that I knew what all but two of those things were.

Seconded on how many of these really are just the url unto themselves, but stranger how many of them even have the ".com" in the search.

Also, fuckyeahgooglesearch.tumblr.com.

See above. Mom's retired. She spends a lot of time on the internet.

Question: were you logged in to Google when you did these searches?

If you search for the first letters of the alphabet in Images with SafeSearch off, there's a naked woman somewhere on the first page of almost every search.

That's odd, when I try it for A the first suggestion is "Avatar Porn".

Oh wait, the suggestions are after my previous searches. Never mind.
