Rocka rolla

Hey, Chicagoans and Chicago-vicinity-ans!

Hella is playing this Thursday night (June 10th) at the Bottom Lounge, along with Philadelphia's Need New Body and Chicago's own Make Believe. Last year's Hella show, also at the Bottom Lounge, was the best concert I saw that whole year, and one of the best shows I've ever seen. I'll be there with pals, so come see me, meet me, shake my hand, buy me drinks, look at my hideous 'Rab-fro! Or, you know, just come out and see one of the most amazing live acts you'll ever see in your span on Earth. It would be criminally insane, like training a diseased gibbon to commit acts of mayhem against Third World children, to miss this show.

EDIT: Doors open at 8PM, so come even though it's a school night. The Chicago Reader has made this one a Critic's Choice, so come early.

Shadouts

Shout out to my homes LANCE, who brought me two huge boxes of Pocari Sweat "Body Request" ion supply energy drink mix from his recent trip to Japan. Sweet! I'll be totally replenished, Nippon-style, this summer.

Shout out to my girl thaitea, who bought me a copy of this amazing zine called Applicant. It's a collection of photos of applications to the grad school of an Ivy League school in the '60s and '70s, accompanied by short excerpts of comments from the applicant's file. Fascinating stuff.

Shout out to the PEOPLE IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE BURGER KING this morning, who not only ordered a couple of Double Whoppers at 7:30 in the morning, but also found it necessary to pick off all the pickles and throw them on the ground. Hey, ya fuckin' litterbugs, have it your way, you know? Just order it without pickles instead of contributing to the rat problem, how about that, geniuses?
