i'm druuuuunk

Drunken Feelgooderie

I do most of my drinking at home these days, but since moving into my new apartment, I figured it was my bounden duty to find the closest neighborhood bar, in case I ever felt like going out for something stronger than the milkshakes at Denny's.

To my great shock and amazement, the closest bar to me appears to be a place that is called -- no, really -- "Good Time Charlie's". And further, it appears to feature that sort of turn-of-the-century nostalgia theme (pickle barrels, pennyfarthing bikes, peanut shells on the floor, etc.) that was popular in the mid-1970s, and has a sign whose colors and graphic design theme places is squarely in the Spaghetti Company days of 1976.

I didn't even know there were still bars like this in existence. I'm filled with the same mix of horror and excitement I felt when I walked through the doors of Brandy's, the bar out by Midway Airport in Chicago that is an exact duplicate of the Regal Beagle from Three's Company. Frankly, I'm a bit frightened to give it a try.
