You stay classy, Pakistan. Good Lord. We need a regime change, and we have to stop propping up ridiculous dictators. This isn't 1972.

Ditto.

Also, wasn't there an attack on the other corrupt-ex-prime-minister? Seems to me someone's clearing the boards for "free and fair elections"....

What gets me the most about Pakistan, is that Bush very clearly thinks Musharraf is doing the right thing. He even seems to even believe that the only way to fix America is to follow Musharraf's example, even though every scrap of evidence clearly displays it as being a terrible no good super bad idea.

It's often said, that failing to remember history leads to repeating it. We had a very good example of how a platform based on pursuit of terrorists and security to centralize power leads to failure in the form of Fujimori. We ignored that whole sale, presumably because that was one silly Nipponese in South America what did they know? Even worse though, is that Pakistan is falling apart before our eyes, for nearly the exact same reasons, and there are still people, including our fucking President, who think it's still a good idea.

How bad does it have to get before the neo-cons say "Gee, maybe this won't work out like we thought?"
