Whorin'

The annual baseball issue of Hobart is out, and if you are so inclined, you can go here and read a baseball haiku that I wrote. Also you can read other ones by people who are better writers than me.

I can't sleep again! Awesome. No Idol recap today, I'm sorry to say: I watched, but I was too busy working on freelance stuff to do a write-up. But doraphilia and I are going to have to agree to disagree on Syesha.

Another friendship, dashed against the rocks of violence by American Idol.

You'll cut me. I'm sure you won't mind. Here, I give you my arm, and I'll keep all my new coworkers guessing with the bandage when I avoid eye contact and tell them "I tripped in the shower."

But that was a VERY VERY VERY bad song choice. I'm sorry. The reason why Whitney Houston's cover was interesting and sort of amazing was that she made a gospel interpretation of a Dolly Parton song. For Syesha to do the exact same thing shows her to be about as uncreative as a paperclip.

But I think it's finally KLC's time to go. For her to be that boring during DOLLY PARTON week shows her to be about as exciting a country music star as a staple puller.

I love how you compare AI contestants to office supplies!

I still think Syesha is awesome, and her performance was great.

Yeah, Dora's the one who'll cut you -- I'm not aboard the Syesha train.

It was KLC's time to go a long while back, I think. Last night was sort of duddish, as this season's AI goes...

IMHO, she didn't have a choice. SOMEBODY had to do "I Will Always Love You", as it's one of the two Dolly Parton songs most non-fans are familiar with (the other, "9 to 5", was taken care of in the opening bit). And the Whitney Houston version was about seven billion times as popular as the original... it would've felt like a cop-out if Syeesha didn't swing for the rafters.

but Syesha didn't murder it like... uh, half of the contestants murdered their songs. KLC won't go home, that was her wheelhouse, and she hit a single. that Ramielebie or whatever woman was blaaaaaaaaand. I don't know what "America" will choose, but America should have voted off, say, Jason Castro a couple of weeks ago.
