C-64, regular flavor, not GS.

And before that a Vic 20.

Cassette tape drives, man! What a crazy time.

Well, that would be for a poll about what crappy COMPUTER you had back in the dizzo, not what GAME SYSTEM.

I think the first one I had was a Texas Instruments I-Can't-Do-Shit 5000. It plugged into your TV.

Hell yeah, with that goofy little switch box to disable the antenna.

Sir, your dismissal of the TI-99/4A is unkind. It's the machine on which I learned to write code. It had 16K of video ram and a 256 byte scratchpad! If you had the Extended Basic cartridge, you could use SUB and SUBEND! This machine's was my first assembly language, which I used to practice (the editor was primitive, so you didn't want to write first drafts there) on graph paper sheets whose reverse side contained detailed maps of dungeons generated randomly according to the instructions in the Dungeon Master's Handbook.

Summary of the above: when you express an opinion, you go too far.

See, I just used BOTH sides of the graph paper for dungeon maps that ended in a random fork that led nowhere.

Which probably explains where we respectively ended up.

Yes, I'm rewriting the programs I wrote when I was 8, and you got to interview Manowar. I knew I should have spent more time with the Fiend Folio.

I had an original Pong box, which was the only video game system I owned until my PS2.

Did anybody actually buy a Pippin? I want to talk to that person.

"Try the Pippin! It looks a lot like an N64, but you can't get any games for it, and it costs three times as much!"

Yeah, then you can use your Newton with it to access eWorld.

Oh ho!

I bet I'm the youngest person to have had a Colecovision. I think that shit came out the year I was BORN.
ludickid
May. 19th, 2008 04:28 pm (UTC)
It came out in '82 -- might have been BEFORE you were born.

ahem!! I'm young but not that young. I was born in 82! Probably before the Coleco was born because I was born in January.

You're adorable. And right! You're seven months older than the ColecoVision!

Ah, the Gizmondo. The portable gaming console that was also a front for mafia money-laundering.

Not to mention the GP2X, the video game console for LINUX nerds!

I would bet that the developers had more fun making the GP2X than any human being had playing it.

I'm genuinely embarrassed to say I never owned any of these. Today I am a bad nerd.

There is absolutely no reason to be embarrassed at never having owned ANY of these things.

Other than the fact that you are now revealed as a jock in disguise and will be banned from your "Call of Cthulhu" gaming group! To the outer darkness with you, sir.

Man, if you were still macking on dudes in COLLEGE with a game system that was made in 1982...well, that's just AWESOME.
