finding that tiny pony in the linked story
"Coalition of the Willing to be Paid" is pretty clever.

That Waxman is a funny guy considering how frustrating his job ("only person in government who gives a shit about Iraq corruption") must be.

Re #4, I'd add: "how even after the colossal failure of the war on every level has become evident to anyone with a working brain stem, the Very Serious People in the DC establishment still caution against doing something "rash" and "reckless" like getting the fuck out of there post haste." Also, "how the paid shills and neocon hacks who predicted how successful and necessary the Iraq invasion would be are still employed instead of being utterly discredited for life."

I just read a piece in U.S. News and World Report on my lunch hour that said that Iraq really isn't as bad as people think and that the justifications for the war weren't really lies at all, according to a new book. Guess who wrote the article? Michael Barone! Guess who wrote the book? Doug Feith! TOTALLY UNIMPEACHABLE SOURCES.

Perhaps more accurately it would be the "Eat a Dick, Muslims!" War, or perhaps even the "Eat a Dick, Brown People!" War. Or even the "Eat a Dick, Normal Joes fo America!" War.
I dunno; they really did such a very thorough job of fucking up everyone who isn't them.

sigh.

Man, I can only summon so much outrage, disgust and disappointment. On the Iraq war, I think I ran out... let's say three years ago. And then things just continued to get worse.1

1 When researching this claim (that I ran out three years ago, not that things continued to get worse; that I knew for sure), I came across this page. The claim was originally that I ran out four years ago, but looking at the timeline, I see that four years ago was when the Abu Gharaib photos came out; I was still pretty outraged then. Three years ago was when the administration started making continual claims that the insurgency was done; that's about when my outrage turned into a slow undercurrent of dismay.

I'm still waiting to be greeted as a liberator...
...but I would have settled for a President who would pull out troops the second after taking the Oath of Office. Now that Mike Gravel's finally out of the race, not a single candidate will touch it.

Ask Denmark how pulling out of Iraq inoculates a country from Islamic violence.

good analysis, although saying that 90,000 Iraqis have died is a gross misunderestimation.

According to what reliable source?

Oh, and how many Iraqis died in a given four-year period when the misunderstood humanitarian Saddam was in charge?

Hint: During the 8-year Iran/Iraq war, between 750,000 and 1.5 million Iraqis and Iranians died. Oh, and WMDs were used, in case you forgot.

Anyway, I'm going to go out on a very narrow limb and say the Iraq war is bad, awful and totally sucks. I know that's crazy but I'm sticking by it.

Aren't you worried that some idiot troll will now quote a article from the Washington Post that reports the completely true facts that the Iraq War is awesome and all bad things are Obama's fault but then spins the truth with figures about the cost in lives and debt? Because my greatest fear is encountering idiot trolls with the ability to hyperlink.

I think "making Iraq the 51st state" should probably be described as "Nero-esque."

I shudder to ask: has that been seriously proposed somewhere along the line?

And I mean "seriously proposed" by the likes of Michelle Malkin or Orson Scott Card, not the Department of Defense. I don't quite think we're that far gone (yet).
