Monday Death Poll

I was pretty bummed out this morning at the news of George Carlin's death, so I'm dealing with my grief the way I usually do: by forcing you, the reader, to quantify the unquantifiable. Today begins a "First Half of 2008 Celebrity Death Deathmatch", where you are compelled to subject to internet pedantry which famous person's demise in the first six months of this year affected you the most! By whatever criteria you think is best, pick one in each showdown, and tomorrow we'll move on to the next round of SUMMER GRIEF-FEST!

Wait -- all of these people actually died in the last 6 months? Some of them I knew, but others I was torn between OMG HE DIED? and OMG, he was still alive (until recently)?

I feel bad for Tim Russert. I think he would have done a lot better if he didn't totally get screwed by the seeding.

Sure, I'm a nerd -- it's just that I'm a rock nerd
Wasn't too hard for me: Gary Gygax didn't do a holy-shit incredible cover version of Neil Young's "Down By the River".

Amen to that! Buddy Miles show blow Gygax out of the water on the strength of that recording alone.

I did the Tuesday version first, so in most cases I voted here for the ones I had bypassed on the Tuesday one. Make any sense at all?
