EDWNRP Fridays!

And now, introducing a new feature here on the Skullbucket that will surely last for at least a week: Extremely Difficult with No Real Payoff Fridays! Every Friday until I forget or become bored, I will assign an extremely difficult project with no real payoff. Which is neat, because saying its name is the same as explaining it and prevents me from needing 70 words to describe the whole gimmick.

This week, for Extremely Difficult with No Real Payoff Friday: name a city about which none of its residents have ever said "only in __________!" when describing some slightly unusual event or circumstance.

Is this because the residents are averse to cliche? Or because nothing unusual has ever happened there? Or because Hook Wreck Henry's Dockside Cafe has branches in other cities? Show your work.

I find it hard to believe that no one has ever said "only at Knott's Berry Farm!"

Oh, man, you KNOW that's not true. Like every week, some dude's garage would get wrecked because the Fantastic Four came around to fight Kraa or Lemuel Dorcas or something, and they'd go "Only in Atlantis!"

Lynchburg, VA, because any statement that challenges the idea that Jerry Falwell turned the city into an evangelical utopia is nipped in the bud.

Oooh! Also, Chinatown!

In Chinatown they never say "Only in," they say "Forget it, Jake."

Islip Terrace, New York? I'm just blue-skying here.

I lived in the next town over for twelve years and unless anything has changed I honestly don't think there's anything in it but houses and a few grocery stores. They have their own volunteer fire department, but so do most places, right? To my knowledge, they don't even have their own school district.

Minneapolis. There is a nigh-on-identical city directly adjacent to it, populated largely by people who frequently do business, shopping and leisure time in both cities, and therefore the odds of something happening "only in Minneapolis" that does not pertain to specific geographical landmarks is highly improbable.

(and "only in the Twin Cities" does not fucking count, come on)

I recently read that, when Dildo was named, "dildo" meant exactly what it does now. I always assumed it had to have had a different meaning. Only in Newfoundland, man.
